What’s On My Mind

My kids won’t admit it yet, but they’re ready for school to start again. They’ve had enough laying around watching tv and vegging. They’re sick of the pool and crave the routine and direction that school provides. I’m not sure I am ready because school starting means carpool schedules and packing lunches again. But the time is a-comin so I might as well get geared up for it.

As fall approaches, my mind has turned to deciding my school year schedule. What days are errand days and what days are writing days? How can I make sure to get exercise in each day? Should I sign up for that Bible study? Can I handle the commitment? These are all questions I’m asking myself. I’m also pinning quite a few fall decorating ideas and pumpkin recipes on my “Fall” Pinterest board.

What should I do next writing wise? I’ve turned in my fourth novel, with edits coming any day now, but I’m not contracted to write anything new. I have a bunch of ideas that my mind keeps flitting to– but not one that I can land on and stay for very long. It’s a strange feeling but also a good one. I like the sense of possibility that comes with it.

We have two birthdays coming up this month. In two months’ time, we celebrate four of my six children’s birthdays. And we celebrate our anniversary this month too. Crazy. Though my 20 year old has outgrown the need for a party thrown by his mommy, the six year old is excited about her craft party in a few weeks when we will be making jewelry. She’s my art girl, so this is right up her alley.

The Belles are gearing up for SIBA, the Southern Independent Booksellers Association’s trade show. This year it’s being held in Naples FL and the five of us will all be there! We are super excited to get together and will be sure to get pictures! In the meantime there are plans to make and schedules to arrange.

So that’s what’s on my mind. What’s on yours?

Marybeth tries to keep track of herself, her husband, six children and Maverick, the incredible jumping dog at her home in North Carolina. She always has a lot on her mind. Her newest novel is The Guest Book, a story about moving forward and making discoveries along the way.
