Delta Airliines, and the rest of them

I’m in tears. I needed to change my return flight from Washington DC next week. So, I called Delta ready to bite the bullet and pay the $100 change fee.

I was so blessed by their generosity and customer service. In these difficult economic times, Delta decided to up their change fee from $100 to $150, and add an $50 additional “screw you” fee plus any price differences on the flight.

Yay, Delta, the Friendly Sky! I just started crying. “Thank you Delta, for valuing my business so much!”

This happened to me earlier in the year. Hubby and I booked a flight to go some where and the event was cancelled. Allegiant Airline was our friend that time. It was cheaper just to NOT go than to try to change the flight.

Here’s the thing: nothing is in our control. Yeah, I know God is in control. I even felt He was in control during prayer this morning. But more and more, from airline customer service to our government, the American people are being robbed.

And I feel so helpless to do anything about it. I can’t even negotiate a fair price with Delta Airlines.

In my corp days, we would’ve sighed and wished for better customer service, and paid the difference. But those days are behind us.

Now, every dollar counts. If it were my foolishness, I’d learn and move on. But this is just circumstances where the cost fell to us.

Now the bigger question. What can I learn from this? This is so piddly compared to world problems like human trafficking, our Congress working to abridge free speech, garbage city in Egypt, or the souls who don’t know Jesus.

So, I praise God for this opportunity to embrace righteousness. If this is the worse I have to endure, I’m a blessed woman.

Thanks for listening. And be careful about booking flights. Know that you know that you know!
