Here’s a fun little holiday-themed read that’s just right for the season. I read it recently and thought I’d share it with all of you this weekend — just in case you’re looking for something to put you in a holiday frame of mind.
On the Cover:
Desperate to make ends meet, winsome diner waitress Merry Hopper takes a temp job as a Christmas Coordinator for a handsome widower, promising to bring Christmas back for his three kids. As the “haves” collide with the “have nots” of this world, Merry finds herself head over heels for the family she’s never had, most of all her new banker boss, not realizing that he’s well on the way toward a Yuletide engagement to his employer’s beautiful daughter.
Review:
This novel was written based on the author’s movie script.
The story focuses on Merry, who yearns for a family of her own, having been abandoned at her Christmas-time birth and languished in the foster system with hopes for an adoption that never happened. She is admirable and determined to do the right thing throughout the story. She’s on her own and having a hard time making ends meet. Charming and kind of right-brained, she takes on the job of coordinating a Christmas for banker, Daniel, and his children after their mother died three years earlier. Merry creates a Christmas, not of things, but of sentiments; not of purchases, but of personal investment. She creatively overcomes the family’s inertia and roadblocks in the grief process. Although she is attracted to Daniel, Merry realizes that it’s a pipe dream to think she could belong in this home.
But… maybe anything is possible on Christmas.
I’ll stop there and not include any spoilers, but this sentimental story is one you can totally crawl under the afghan with, grab a cup of tea and read without stopping.
Happy Holidays, All!
