Lately I’ve notice a shift in our corporate worship service.
Have any of you?
When we go to songs or choruses, especially spontaneous choruses, declaring the glory and majesty of Jesus, the atmosphere of the room changes.
Even better, the atmosphere of my heart changes.
For whatever time we spend singing and playing music “to the immortal, invisible, the only wise God…” I can feel my heart expand.
Love abounds.
Our church partners with another for a monthly prayer gathering we call “MyHOP.” My House of Prayer.
The worship team is made up of musicians and singers from six churches.
We never have time to practice, but when we bring our worship hearts, calling and gifting to the stage the first Friday of the month, something beyond practice perfection happens.
There is a synergy — can I use that word in 2014? — that comes when both musician and singer, along with the congregation and those offering prayers at the microphone join together in one according asking for God’s kingdom to come on earth as it is in heaven.
Yet, when we turn our focus from ourselves, from valid, commanded in scripture prayer targets — the government, leaders, families, etc — and fix our gaze on Jesus, the level of anointing in the room changes.
That’s the best way to describe it. From good to great.
After one meeting, I felt the residuals for two days after.
Here’s the thing, I think. It’s not just the words and the song, it’s the infusion of music that is also being “directed” from heaven. Make sense?
I’m probably fumbling along here with what I’m trying to say so I’ll just make this a short post.
No matter where you stand in your heart, what you believe, where you go to church, God is about glorifying His Son, Jesus the Christ. And He’s chosen us, weak humans, to partner with Him to accomplish His mission.
When we worship with that in mind, declaring with our mouths, “all blessing, honor, glory and power,” or “He alone was worthy to open the scrolls.” something happens in the heavens.
Something happens in our hearts.
We must magnify Him above ALL our own thoughts, feelings, emotions, ideas, beliefs. We must bring ourselves under HIs pure, glorious leadership.
1 Timothy 1:17 Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
