Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world. James 1:27
We just came off of an election this week. Maybe like me, some of your are or were disappointed in the result. While God calls us to obey every governing authority, we are enabled by God to do what He’s called us to do no matter who is in the White House.
Talking with new acquaintance at lunch today, I shared that when I moved to this town, I told the Lord I wouldn’t be happy unless I was serving him. He’s done a great job with my life so far! What’s changed now that 26 years have passed and I’m more settled in life — married with a good hubby and career — but not happy with the direction of my country?
Nothing. I still need to posture myself the same… “I won’t be happy unless I’m serving You, Lord. No matter WHO is president, no matter who is publishing my books, or taking my order at McDonalds, God is the giver of all JOY!
If we lay down our lives for Him, He will give it back to us! What is it God has called you to do? What’s holding you back? Why aren’t you seeking Him daily about making a way? Answer His call.
That’s what Kimberly Smith did. She turned her life upside down and inside to do what the Lord called her to do. And she’s never looked back. The Belles are partnering with her to raise money for an orphanage in Africa.
Here’s what she has to say:
Our Father’s Cleft (OFC) is the newest orphanage in our anti-trafficking, orphan-care network in Sudan—and we already have 300 children there! The last truckloads of supplies we got through was during The Mighty Storm of God miracle. If you didn’t get to experience it in real time, it’s worth clicking on the link! Our food has held through, but it’s getting hard to eke out more than one meal a day. We’ve got to get another truck through the war zone and to our orphans! Rainy season is starting to wind down, but still the fighting still rages on, and it will not be an easy task. Eugenio has been working to coordinate all logistics and gather supplies from Kenya. Philip’s experience in the war zone of Darfur has prepared him to be the perfect leader of our caravan. Even as I write to you our men are making way over these dangerous passageways, which Matt and I filmed on our last trip in. Simon, our driver, and the entire crew are on their way to our orphans with a 40 feet container stuffed full of as much supplies as they could load up. Your support has purchased literally tons of beans, sorghum, lentils, cooking oil, sugar, rice, and soap, along with farming tools, fuel , Christian school books, and medicine for 300 orphans and their caregivers! Now, they need your prayers to ensure safe delivery of these life-saving supplies. MWP Sr. Field Coordinator, Matt McGowen, flew out from the US yesterday and will be meeting up with Joseph, the OFC director, and the whole caravan crew in a few days. He’s traveling with a terrible stomach bug, and so I ask for your prayers for his physical strength as well as special parcel of the peace of our Lord over he and his beautiful family, who await his safe return in AL.
We’ve also stepped out in faith and added a small round of building supplies to this load. It will not be enough to build these babies a safe and loving home, but it’s a start. School, food, and medicine are great, but we need to build their home with a security fence to keep them safe! Your donation today will keep the bricks coming for their home: http://makewaypartners.org/

Rachel here: I love her closing, “your sister of insane obedience.” I’m challenged by that, right here, in my kitchen, facing a book deadline. I want to be insanely obedient no matter what He’s called me to. What about you? Has he called you to homeschool the kids, perhaps go back to work or mend a relationship?
Let’s do it! He’s enabled us.
