Let me tell you a story about three men I know… Just Enough, More than Enough, and A Gracious Plenty.

Just Enough has a decent paying job but he spends all his time making sure the money doesn’t run out before the month does. Just Enough goes to church but he has a hard time getting there regularly. He tries to pray and read his Bible, just enough to stay on good terms with God.

More than Enough makes good money, too, more than enough to keep him and his family up with their friends. They’re into the latest cell phones, the trendiest clothes, and the coolest new gadgets. Shopping is one of their family’s favorite pastimes but More than Enough is having to work harder and harder to keep it all afloat, and he’s never quite sure it’s not all about to sink, despite his best efforts. More than Enough is also a church goer. Why, he goes every time the door opens, which in his opinion should be more than enough to get God’s attention and some of those blessings in the book, but it doesn’t seem to be turning out that way for him at all.

And then there’s A Gracious Plenty. He works hard, too. From where I sit his schedule looks pretty draining. The curious thing is, A Gracious Plenty not only seems to enjoy the pace, he always has time for his family right in the middle of it all—and for me, too! A Gracious Plenty attends the same church that Just Enough and More than Enough belong to and he is so grateful to be a part of that body of believers. He is always trying to figure out what he can do to make them stronger, to help them grow and succeed. A Gracious Plenty is always giving something to someone, a smile, an encouraging word, a gift, whatever they need. It’s like he has an unlimited supply of whatever anyone else needs and it just passes right through him. He intrigues me. That’s why I started studying him, actually. Oh, he doesn’t know I’m watching. I haven’t made it public or anything. But I’ve been observing these three men for a while now and I’ve made my decision. I want to follow A Gracious Plenty and I want to ask Just Enough and More than Enough to come, too.

Hugs,
Shellie
