Author
Rikki, it starts at midnight!
Hi Rachel; I’d love to win this contest as I love to read and it would introduce me to some new writers. Is the book you’re giving away printed backwards from what we’re used to or were you just showing off the back cover?

Great Tonja! Appreciate you!
I’m a James Rubart fan, and was very happy to see the raffle you’re offering. I’m definitely going to check out your books, and the other authors that I am now following 🙂
Rachel,
Great site! Thanks for doing this contest, looking forward to winning. 🙂
Blessings,
Rikki
I loved James l Rubarts book “rooms” this one looks as if it will be just as good
Thanks for the chance to win! I loved The Wedding Dress and Once Upon A Prince! Keep up the wonderful writing! Looking forward to yoir next book!
What draws me into a good story is the storyline and the main characters. If they sound interesting, I will try the book. 🙂
I have loved all the books of yours I have read. There are still a few I need to find. But I would love to try out a new author while I’m waiting for your next book. I bought Once upon a Prince when if came out and read it in two days. Trying to wait patiently!
Author
Lisa, I’m writing as fast as I can. Thanks for being such a fun, faithful reader. Good luck in the contest!
For me, one of the most crucial parts of a good story is the development of the characters. If I cannot identify or sympathize with them on some level, then they are not believable. And if I don’t believe in the characters, then I don’t enjoy the story.
TCuevas@iccable.com
What a fun contest! Nothing better in the summer for me than reading! You have some great authors lined up! Another great thing I like to do is discover new authors! You have some authors that are new to me and I’d love to discover them! Thanks for the chance!.
Unfortunately I’m not on Twitter so I will only have that one entry into the contest. I hope that’s ok! I will go ahead and try anyway! Probably isn’t going to help me much but oh well!
Author
Vairi, posting a comment gets you in the contest!! Thank you!
How exciting what a fun giveaway!!
I was currently reading “The Wedding Dress” but had to stop because we are in the process of moving! LOVE it so far!! as far as what draws me to a good story… I’d have to say interesting and realistic characters!
Author
Dawn, moving takes priority over reading. 🙂
I enjoy books most when a great storyline really pulls me in! I’ve read a couple of these books, and I’m really looking forward to several of the others. Thanks for the giveaway!
The characters draw me in.
What draws me into a good story? Strong characters, interesting settings and a touch of mystery.
A believable plot and characters that are moral but real.
What a neat giveaway! Thanks for hosting it!
Blessings!

Jam packed prize offering, Rachel! Thanks for the great giveaway.
I just finished Once Upon A Prince and couldn’t put it down! LOVED the book! Can’t wait for the second book in the series! Thanks for the chance to win; but either way my to read pile just grew! 🙂 Lots of great books and authors! Have a great summer!
Author
Lisa, very cool!! Yay! Thanks for commenting. And there are a lot of great authors in this give away!
What a generous giveaway! I’d love to win & share these great reads w/ my students. Blessings!
Author
Love you, Renee! Thanks for bringing great reading to your students!
The main thing that gets me into a storyline is when it is clean and has a good Christian message.
Author
Good point, Amy C!
The thing that draws me into books is detail – which makes me feel as if I am there with the characters.
Love the giveaway & love these authors – follow them by Facebook, e-mail, newsletters, blog, etc., but don’t tweet. Are there any extra giveaway entries available for those who don’t tweet?
Thanks!
Author
Bonnie,
I love details too! Though as a writer they can get tedious. The tweets are mandatory so your name is entered by commenting! Thanks!
Rachel
Rachel,
I have not read this book and this contest sounds awesome thanks
Great idea to liven up the summer! As to what draws me into a book – the lively characters and intriguing plot. I especially love historical fiction!
The Wedding Dress is my favorite book of yours!! But I have not yet read a book of yours that did not touch some part of my heart. : )
I loved all of James Rubart’s books!! And equally as glad to have found this blog! 🙂
I would love to win this. These are some of my very favorite authors
Lots of good books, thanks for doing this
WOW, what a treat! Some of my very favorite authors are getting into this fun deal. I am an avid fan of both Rachel and Jim. Now to answer the question “What draws me into a book?”. I love a book that captures your attention in the first few pages and one that I don’t want to put down. It’s kind of like an introduction to a person, the first impression. I really like to visualize the story as I read it and to get an inside view of the main character and setting sets the stage.
You’re sooo kind to do this. Thanks
What a wonderful giveaway with such wonderful authors that I just love.
Thanks!
What a great giveaway. Lots of good authors in that list!
I love some good realistic dialog in a story…
All of these books look so good! Thanks for the give-away!!
(I didn’t follow directions.) The characters are what draw me into a story most.
Thanks for the chance to win some books. I enjoy reading love stories that have a bit of suspense, realistic life challenges that are overcome, and a Christ-centered focus.
Hi! I just got a copy of “The Wedding Dress,” and am super excited to read it! I’d love to read these others as well!
Oh! I missed the cue! Fast, gripping plot, humor, and lovable characters are what draws me in to a book!
What draws me into a book would have to be the characters. I have to be able to connect with them, they have to be believable. I just read The Wedding Dress and it was absolutely wonderful! I didn’t want it to end! Thank you for the amazing giveaway!
love reading these books
Rachel, I LOVED your you-tube video about this, and love all the authors included in this giveaway. You are way too fun. 🙂
I love well written characters that have flaws without being victims. 🙂
Oops – I didn’t read far enough to see there was a specific question. What draws me into a story? Great writing that creates characters who feel real to me doing things that I find interesting, preferably in a place I’ve been to or — even better — want to visit some day.
What draws me into a story is strong characters that I can relate to and cheer for! 🙂
Thanks for the giveaway!
Thank you so much for the opportunity to win any of the above books! Even if I don’t win, I plan to read all of the above books. 🙂
Rachel, I thoroughly enjoyed your You tube video about this contest. You made me smile. A snappy opening and good follow-up draws me into a story. The flow from that mystery, action or conflict just pulls me along.
I love a book where I feel I “know” the characters. I love suspense, comedy, romance…..
I think being able to relate to the main character and the main character being likable are the first thing. The setting is another.
A great hook always draws me in…also, the suspense!
To draw me in a story must have a good opening that moves forward at a decent pace.
Love reading your books! Currently in line for Once Upon A Prince at the library…can’t wait to read it! 🙂
*Sorry, forgot to add this in my other post!*
I’m drawn into a good story by the way the characters are written–if I feel like I can relate to them, I’m going to want to follow them and see how their story pans out.
Such amazing authors!! Thank you for the opportunity!
The plot and location draw me into a good book.
I love to read and would love to win these books
What a fun contest 😀 I love your books and am SO ready for a virtual vacation via the pages of a good book *sigh*. Thank you for the opportunity
What a great giveaway! I need some new summer reads and these books look great! Thanks 🙂
What draws me into a story? The characters! I sometimes will pick up a story based on the setting (dreaming of Hawaii during January in Indiana!) Mostly, I love characters that I can follow through several books and REALLY get to know.
What draws me into a book is if I connect with the situations and characters. HOWEVER I also am drawn into a story if I want to escape and it is about something I would love to experience myself.
Just finished Once Upon A Prince – so good! Really drew me right into the story. I’m excited for this contest – always love Colleen’s books & have been wanting to read. Face of the earth too.
Thank you for hosting this giveaway! Immediate action and a feisty, quirky heroine draws me in faster than a speeding silver bullet. (Just wrote the first thing that came to mind!)
What draws me into a good story is likable characters. The story line has to capture my interest right away.
Blessings!
Judy B
You are a new author to me and i would love to win the book
jcisforme@aol.com
It’s the characters that draw me into a story. Every time!
What a great looking bunch of books! I’d love to read and then pass along all of them.
Once I read one of your books I couldn’t wait to read them all. ! Really enjoyed your video on Youtube!
Thanks for the contest, a lot of those books are on my list to read! Love your books, can’t wait to read Once Upon a Prince!
What draws me into the story is usually the first couple of lines and then the character…plus I want to know more!!
I’m drawn into a story by interesting characters, and not knowing what is going to happen. I like to be surprised, and not be able to predict what is going to happen.
The thing that draws me into a good story, is the dynamic between the chars (whether the main char or supporting chars of the story). I can be drawn into a story even based on a side story within in the main story. Also, if there a good backstory/history that is laid out in the book, that can draw me in. I want to know what these people think, what they feel (especially if there is a backstory between the chars), it is in the details I guess.
I loved “Once upon a prince.” It was so good, I read it in one day. Great story 🙂 I finished it and I wanted to turn around and reread it all over again.
Author
Jen, that’s so cool. Thanks for letting me know you like Once Upon A Prince.
A good story is one where I forget where I am when I am reading it. Usually it makes me feel like I am in the same place as the characters are.
Not entering because I am a reviewer and have either read or have nearly all of these books on my to review list . Just wanted to encourage everyone to enter. These are ALL excellent books. I would love to win them if I didn’t already have them. What a generous giveaway!
Hm I would say the overall plot of the story! If it doesn’t grab my attention with a good romance and a little suspense mixed in with history I’m not as prone to pick it up!
Thanks for having the contest. Engaging characters and a bit of suspense draw me into a story. I love the anticipation of resolving the suspense/storyline.
I must feel a connection with the characters to be drawn into a book.
Thank you for your awesome contest. I am an avid reader. I love to read books. I would love to win anyone of these books.
A likable character is what draws me into the story, or at least one that has the hope of redemption in the end 🙂
I started to read Christian fiction when I was just married, my husband would give me a small allowance and I would buy books, saying that one day we would have children and they will want to read and I will have shelves full of good books and not have to fear about what they are pulling off the shelf. I now have 5 girls and they all read like their Momma 🙂
Would love to win and then share with my local rural library.
What a fun youtube! I love that you didn’t redo it. Just like the characters in your books, you are authentic and open (well, MOST characters in your books, teehee). Love your idea of summer fun. Thanks for sharing so many wonderful books with us.
I like it if it has romance and some suspense in it.
What fun to have a summer giveaway. I loved reading The Wedding Dress and I’m sure I would enjoy the other books.
The overall plot draws me in. I found myself crying at the end of Once Upon a Prince. A great love story!!
Stories with believable characters draw me in, as well as “redemptive” plots – characters that grow and develop.
What draws me into a good story is an intriguing character(s). The story should make me want to follow the character through the end of the book.
Great characters and suspense draw me into a story. I recently read “Soul’s Gate” by James Rubart and could not put it down. I’m really looking forward to the next book, “Memory’s Door.”
Thanks to you and the other wonderful author’s participating in this contest. Great books to win!
Thanks Rachel, for your book giveaway. I especially love to read books in a series. I never want a story to end and can’t wait to see what you have for us next!
Wow what a great contest! Thanks for the opportunity!
I would really love to win this give away thanks
jcisforme@aol.com
What draws me into a good story? I think the main thing that draws me in is well developed, believable characters that I can feel a connection with or empathy toward.
I get drawn in by great characters. I just want to know everything about them and follow their story. Thanks for the giveaway!!
I just love everyone of your books that I read! Please keep them coming!!
Rachel,
Since I first stumbled across your book, Georgia on My Mind, I have loved all your books, including my advanced copy of Once Upon a Prince. I would love to win one of the books in the contest. If you recommend them, I am sure they are great. I love a good story with characters that I can relate to along with a plot that has me hooked and up reading until the middle of the night.
God bless!
Author
Thanks Velma!
Interesting characters and attraction between the characters draws me into the story.
I think what draws me in is the plot line…..The Character’s too need to be interesting and add someting to the story. Quirky..
Great giveaway! What draws me into a good story–usually what draws me in is previous books by that author. I personally like good, clean-cut books.
If the characters draw me in during the first couple of chapters then I am hooked. My favorites are suspense but I love a good laugh too.
Captivating characters and unique storylines!
I am drawn in by the predicaments the characters find themselves in. It can be a physical, emotional or spiritual predicament. I love to see the development of the character as they work through it.
The characters are what draw me in!
I have to be in a mood to read a specific genre in Christian fiction. I love reading books of authors I have previously read, series, and books via recommendation. I have read many of the authors listed in Rachel’s giveaway, but there are a few I have not read and would love to win these books to get the chance to read them. Thank you, Rachel for hosting, and everyone else for contributing. God bless!
Amy
What draws me into a story kind of depends on the story. With most, it is compelling characters. Other stories, it is the action, or the mystery, or perhaps the romance. Even in those stories, if I can’t care in some way about the characters, the story will be flat and uninteresting for me.
Oooooooooooo!!! I want to win Once Upon a Prince!! Kathleen ~ Lane Hill House
I am a huge Rachel Hauck fan! As a young adult I feel like so many things are struggling to get my attention. Whether it be good or bad it is being thrown at me. I really appreciate that I can pick up one of Rachel’s books or any of the other author’s books and not have to worry about any negative or non-God honoring topics entering my mind. I absolutely love the Wedding Dress and Once Upon a Prince because they bring that love and romance that I enjoy in books but also brought in God’s abundant love for us. Thanks to all the authors in this group for letting books be your ministry!
Author
Sarah, thanks so much for your comments. We love to write for you! Keep speaking out and raising the bar for other young women! Love, Rachel
Would love to win! So many good authors.
I commented before I read the question. Cover first and then checking out the book blurb. Or a recommendation.
Would love to win your book! Dying to get my hands on the book ! Enter me, please.
The characters draw me into a good story.
Deborah
pinkscissorsdesign@gmail .com
What draws me to a good story? Well… It’s usually the book cover that draws to pick up the book, to read the back. But once inside… the stories I love, the characters are real, their story develops, their conflicts get resolved, and with a really good story… by the end of the book I want more.
Thank you so much, I love books so much and you are wonderful.
I would love to win Once Upon a Prince. It’s on my to read list.
The question was asked on the entry, “What draws me into a story?” For me it is the believability of the characters, their motivations, and the situations. If there’s anything that doesn’t seem “right”, I’m outta there. 🙂
I love your Once upon a Prince, I can’t wait for the next one.
I think what makes a good book is the story.
a story that makes me leave this world and travel to another.
I love colorful, relatable characters. Points of view that I can understand, but are unique too.
Rachel, I just started Once Upon a Prince. It’s my weekend read! So excited. Many of the rest of these books are on my wish list, too. Great giveaway!
What draws me in to a story? A great cover helps, but as an author I know you don’t always get much influence on that (your’s is fabulous, btw). I’ll read the first few pages and see if it grabs me. Interesting genre and characters. Intriguing plot. Favorite author.
Hope you like Prince Deb!
I enjoy reading clean spiritual, romance, thriller, mysteries and stories with warmth and compaction towards others. I have found all in theses books thanks.
What draws me into a story?? Good dialog, showing me what a character feels, not just telling me. Of course, I’m not immune to lovely locations, and a story that takes me away from the everyday!
I’ve enjoyed your books Rachel. Thanks for all the hard work you put into it!
Thanks Brenda!
Love Rachel Hauck fiction. The best out there!
Aw thanks Allison! What a great way to start Saturday!
What draws me in to a good story? A story with a well grounded plot and characters that have flaws and downfalls. Characters who deal with issues that I am dealing with or have dealt with in the past. And finally, characters that expand and broaden my thinking, that challenge me to go outside of myself and my own little world.
Well said!
What draws me into a story is one that creates characters that you can escape and experience the story with, and one that leaves me encouraged about how The Lord works in the characters and can also work in my life. I just finished Once Upon A Prince and it was just this type of story. I didn’t want it to end and can’t wait for book 2!
Molly, thanks for your kindness about Once Upon A Prince. 😉
What draws me into a story? One that has a character/characters whose every day lives are transformed by the love of God.
Thanks for the awesome contest, R.K.!
Author
R. K? 😛
What draws me in to a good story, normally, are diverse, quirky characters that intertwine into the story itself in their own unique way(s).
I just finished your latest book, Once Upon A Prince. I teach in a Christian high school, and try to preview as many books as possible. I am usually drawn to mysteries with a hint of romance, but what I really appreciate is a storyline where Christianity is portrayed strongly, and faith and seeking godly wisdom is not merely thrown in to gain a spiritual category genre label. I appreciated your book as showing characters with a genuine faith
Author
Thank you Patty! Appreciate your comments!
What draws me into a book first is the cover. IF the cover shows minimal work to create interest I go no further. Then I look to see if it is historical. Once I start reading I am drawn by characters with which I can have empathy.
Author
Barbara, yes, the cover is so important!
Great characters draw me into a story. If I don’t like the characters, it doesn’t matter how exciting the plot is.
I love a good plot that draws you in pretty quickly.
what an awesome blessing to win these books.
I would share them with my MOM and first cousin.
thanks for the chance
