There have been a few crazy times in my life.
College. I put myself through school so I always had to work. In junior college I worked 36 hours a week. I also lived in an apartment with other women from my church.
At Ohio State, I worked 20 hours a week during school and two jobs in the summer.
I carried a full load of classes.
I joined a sorority. I loved college life so I was always willing to squeeze in a party or a night out with my “sisters.” I loved football so you know where I was on game day — in the ‘Shoe or in front of the TV if the game was televised.
After college, I joined the Yuppy phenom of the ’80s. I was busy. Stressed at times, but it wasn’t so crazy. Not like college.
In ’00, I was a project and team manager at a computer software company. I loved my job. Then I became involved with American Christian Fiction Writers in ’01 and by the end of ’02, I was Vice President and heading up our second national conference.
I was a worship and prayer leader at church and for a multi-church prayer meeting.
I was writing my first novel.
And life was crazy. For the first time, stress was physically impacting me.
My husband and I talked. Something had to go. Writing. Worship/Prayer. Software Project Manager.
Only one paid. And that’s the one we gave up.
In ’04, I quit the corporate world to write and worship full time. I’ve never looked back.
The craziness of the time forced me to make some decisions. To leap out and trust God for a dream, for a divine future.
I’m glad I did. It led me to where I am now. Sitting on the porch with the Belles!
