Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

You’ll need:

Recipe for a 9 inch double crust pie. You can make your own or buy pre-made crust at the grocery store.

And you’ll need:

1/2 cup of unsalted butter3 tablespoons of all-purpose flour1/4 cup of water1/2 cup of white sugar1/2 cup of brown sugar8 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and sliced thin.

And away we go!

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Melt the butter in a saucepan. Stir in flour to form a paste. Add water, white sugar and brown sugar, and bring to a boil. Reduce temperature and let simmer.

2. Place the bottom crust in your pan. Fill with apples, mounded slightly. Cover with a lattice work crust. Gently pour the sugar and butter liquid over the crust. Pour slowly so that it does not run off.

3. Bake 15 minutes in the preheated oven. Reduce the temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Continue baking for 35 to 45 minutes, until apples are soft.

Lattice work crust: roll out your top pie crust. Then cut into one inch strips. Place half the strips over the apples. Place them about an inch apart. Then take the other strips and weave the in. Fold back stripe 2 and 4. Lay one strip over 1 and 3. Fold them back. Then….
