You Aren’t Really What You Eat

Rachel Hauck, Once Upon A Prince, Royalty, MonarchsI challenge this statement.

“You are what you eat.”

I’m a fruit? A bowl of cereal? Sugar?

Big Mac, Large Fry?

Grilled chicken with a side of broccoli?

Really?

I’m constrained by what goes in my mouth?

Jesus said, “What comes out of a person is what defiles them.”

In other words, you ARE what you SAY!

Look, raw food people are usually just as miserable as the junk food people.

I’ve never met anyone whose very essence was changed by food choice.

NOW, food choices can weaken our immune system or cause us to feel run down or sick. EAT WISELY!

Exercise. I always feel better after I’ve exercised.

But I am not defined by what I eat.

I’m defined by what I say… about myself as well as others.

Above all, I’m defined by who Jesus, the One who died for me, redeemed me, says I am.

He says I’m “accepted (not rejected!) in the Beloved.

I’m the head and not the tail.

I’m the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.

I’m whole, healed, healthy. Romans 8:11.

I’m chosen.

Good things were prepared for me to walk in BEFORE the foundation of the earth.

I was carefully formed in my mother’s womb. David wrote, “You saw my unformed substance!”

Amazing! I’m soooooo much more than what I eat.

But man, I can really tear myself down by what I say, what I believe.

So, do the Romans 12:1-2 thing today: renew your mind and be transformed.

That’s what I’m focusing on. While I eat my apple and go to spin class.

Have a good one!

  1. I remind myself every day that “Life and death are in the power of the tongue,” and I try very hard to follow that verse of scripture by speaking life and not death. I really enjoyed this post, Rachel.
